KODINHALTIA AWARD
Kodinhaltia is a mystical figure in Finnish mythology, who has been a true behind-the-scenes influencer in homes. It has not been a visible character, but its significance has been great as the creator of the home's spirit, protector of the inhabitants, and manager of all kinds of household affairs.
The new Kodinhaltia Award follows in the footsteps of this mystical figure. The purpose of the award is to recognize individuals, phenomena, or companies in the interior design field who have been significant background influencers, trendsetters, or dedicated long-time contributors. Awardees can be interior journalists or designers, photographers, organizations, companies, or various industry influencers both in social media and traditional media. What unites potential candidates is that they have not necessarily made a loud noise about their commendable hard work. This new Kodinhaltia Award will be presented annually based on the criteria mentioned above. Different aspects of the interior design field may be emphasized in different years, and various jury members may be invited accordingly.
THE ORIGIN OF THE AWARD
The award was established in 2024 by designer Tapio Anttila. Throughout his long career, he has received numerous domestic and international recognitions and awards. The Kodinhaltia Award was born from the idea that it was time for him to pay it forward and share recognition with others. The Kodinhaltia character and its story serve as a fitting model for the award, adding symbolic meaning to it.
